Prototype 1: Long Distance Wearable
For the first wearable technology prototype, I wanted to design a wearable that would connect people over long distances. Most of the wearables that communicate over long distances are used for medical purposes and often look technical and inorganic. I wanted to design bracelets the would communicate with colors, temperature, heartbeat, and vibrations to create a more emotional connection between two people. This was an individual project.
Prototype 2: Stress Reducer Wearable
In this group project, we wanted to create a wearable that would reduce stress in everyday life. After researching that stress can physically affect the body we designed a wearable that would use aromatherapy and massage to reduce stress. In this prototype, the wearable would sense the bodies stress response then the ring would activate the aromatherapy and the user can push the button on the ring to activate the massage camisole. In this project, I helped with brainstorming, developing the physical prototype, and creating and presenting the presentation.
Prototype 3: Electronic Tattoo
In this group project, we imagined a future where people's characteristics could be identified by the electronic tattoo they willing added to their body. The tattoo could be scanned to reveal social media profiles and the LEDs could signify different characteristics about the individual like sexual orientation or medical conditions. We thought that the future of technology is going to be electronics embedded on the inside and outside of the body and being a “cyborg” was so normal that the electronics were displayed on the body as a part of communication. In this project, I helped with brainstorming, developing the physical prototype, and creating and presenting the presentation.
